Completion of Mandalabhishekam

Om Nama Shivaya
Sri Gurubhyo Namaha

The poorthi of the 45 day mandalabhishekam took place on 8-June-2008 (Sunday) - Sarvadhari Vaikasi sukla paksha panchami day. It was attended by villagers and its descendants now settled elsewhere. The highlight of the function was a 108 sankhabishekam to lord Sri Thirukkalatheeswarar special pujas and abishekams to deities of Sri Kokilaambaal and Sri Thirukkalatheeswarar. The rituals were conducted by Sri Sabarathna Gurukkal of Vilambakkam. The siva temple with the adjoining amman (grama deivam) temple and the grand banyan tree presented a fantastic sight - full of villagers with the surrounding lush green paddy fields providing a panoramic backdrop

Now the focus is on undertaking other activities to strengthen the temple and worship. This temple activity has also spurned the interest of neighbouring villages in getting their temples renovated!

பனையூர் Kumbhabishekam

Om Nama Sivaya
Sri Gurubyo Namaha

The Kumbhabishekam of the Kokilaambaal sametha Thirukkaleshwarar shrine took place on April 23, 2008, Thruthiyai – Anusham day, with the yagasala functions commencing on 21st April. The ashtabandana Maha Kumbhabishekam was conducted by sivacharyars and was well attended by the local village folk. It was most appropriate that the function took place on anusham day, the Janma-nakshatram of Kanchi maha periyava who time and again stressed that old temples need to be renovated and maintained on priority over construction of new temples.

The consecration was performed by Sivacharyars Sri Visvanatha Gurukkal of Mambakkam and Sri Sabarathna Gurukkal of Vilambakkam. The consecration took place in the presence of West Mambalam Murugasramam Sri Sankarananda Swamigal, Madipakkam Sri Seethala Swamigal, Ratnagiri Sri Balamuruganadimai Swamigal, Kalavai Sri Satchidananda Swamigal, Allikulam Sri Om Sakthi ammal Swamigal. The mandalapuja will take place for 45 days till June 8th 2008.

It has been a stupendous effort renovating the 700 year old temple.
Before renovation,

During renovation,

Sri Kokilaambaal sametha Thirukkaleshwarar Kovil now!

All this has been possible due to support from village folk and fellow asthikas. Now that a major milestone has been achieved, it is vital to organize the mandalapuja festivities. One day of the puja costs can be met by Rs.500 donation till June 8,2008 (i.e during the mandala puja period). The next efforts are to be taken up in sustaining the regular worship in the shrine in the tranquil conditions. Similarly, there are also some other developmental works to be carried out like, building a compound wall. All these require sustained support from asthikas in form of prayer, labour or money which is earnestly requested.
